Denzel Gerrar, Walton Casuals’ longest serving member of the playing squad, has left the club.
Denzel was a firm fans’ favourite and picked up the Supporters Player of the Year award in our promotion winning campaign in 2017/18, when he secured his legacy at the club with the vital save in the play-off final shootout.
He was the hero once again in two more penalty shootouts this past season, helping us beat Guildford City and Whyteleafe in the Surrey Senior Cup. Denzel took the armband for the final half a dozen games of the season and was rewarded by receiving the Southern Combination Cup in what turned out to be his final game for the club.
Nobody will ever have a bad word to say about Denzel (with the exception of certain officials…) and that penalty save will forever live in the minds of everyone that was in Tolworth on that hot May afternoon.
On behalf of all Casuals officials and fans, we’d like to wish Denzel all the success in his future career.
