Blackfield & Langley take the points in 5 goal thriller – Match report by Conor Faherty
Walton Casuals were edged out by a very game Blackfied & Langley.
Goals from Hisham Kasimu, Mitchell Speechley-Price and Luke Rae were enough to see off the Casuals, Jay Gasson and an own goal from Langley captain Adam Tomasso were not enough for the Stags to get anything from the game.
The game started at a relatively comfortable tempo with both teams finding their feet on a cold afternoon in Surrey. Rhodell Gordon on 12 minutes wandered into the area and forced a smart save from visiting keeper Lewis Noice. But after 23 minutes Langley took the lead with their first shot of the game. A lovely touch from number 9 Kasimu brought the ball down before a little bit of skill and a sharp finish into the far corner.
Walton responded positively to the setback, Rene Howe was unlucky to see his header tipped over the crossbar. And they got what they deserved! A few minutes later Casuals had equalised a corner in and Jay Gasson who’d replaced Jude Mason earlier in the half rose the highest to head it into the top corner to make it 1-1.
Walton pushed to try and take the lead and Jack Skinner was played through, only to see his rather tame shot saved.
Half Time 1-1
Second half began and inside two minutes Walton were ahead. Some good play from Cheyce Grant down the right and his cross was deflected in by Blackfield captain Tomasso to see the Stags go 2-1 ahead.
Blackley & Langfield went in search for an equaliser and fantastic double save from Alex Tokarczyk kept the Stags in front, although he was powerless as Langfield did come back in the 63rd minute with Speechley-Price scoring with his header to draw the game level at 2-2.
The winning goal for the visitors came in the 67th minute, an absolute screamer from Rae who unleashed a rocket into the top corner. A goal worthy to seal any game.
Casuals came back but were not able to scare Noice in the visitor’s goal and Langfield saw out the game 3-2. A disappointing afternoon for the Stags as they fall to another defeat at home. The result sees them 13th in the league with 24 points after 22 games.
Next up for Walton they welcome Chesham United to the Hub on Boxing day!
