CASUALS WALTON WALK” FOR THE COMMUNITY ON SUNDAY 5 JULY at 13:00
A Casuals Walk Around Walton We are pleased to announce that our charity walk is scheduled to take place on July 5th 2020 at 13:00.
It will be starting/finishing at our Home Ground (Elmbridge Sports Hub).
There may not have been football for some time but Walton Casuals Football Club is organising a sponsored “socially distanced” 5km walk on Sunday 5 July around Walton to mark the efforts taken by the community during these difficult times and signal a new beginning as lockdown restrictions are eased. Walton Casuals have dreamt up the idea to also raise money for the NHS and local community causes including the Walton Casuals Foundation which delivers qualified football coaching schemes for boys and girls aged 6-15 and the Walton Casuals Academy which provides educational qualifications and work placements. Individuals and groups are welcome to make donations as well as local businesses who may wish to be promoted as part of this ground-breaking event in the Walton community. Chairman of Walton Casuals is Tony Gale, the longstanding Sky Sports television pundit and former West Ham and Fulham legend and Premier League title winning footballer at Blackburn Rovers. Casuals’ new President is renowned “Match of the Day” commentator Jonathan Pearce and both will be leading the 5km walk around Walton, taking in historical landmarks and the beauty along the banks of the River Thames, joined by other footballing celebrities. As Gale explains “It is hoped that as many residents, community groups and fans will join the walk alongside passers-by who are encouraged to come along and join at any stage to celebrate all that is great about our wonderful town and in a show of inclusivity and unity, contribute to local causes and the NHS, who have done such an amazing job! Next season will be Walton Casuals’ third in the 3rd tier of non-league football – which is only 6 promotions away to the Premier League! The walk is also a celebration of this fantastic achievement and our rise up the divisions over the past 15 years, alongside the creation of a thriving youth, ladies and education set-up. We’re at the heart of the fantastic Walton community and there’s certainly lots to be cheerful about as we look forward to the coming months and beyond”. The walk starts at 13:00 outside the Excel Leisure Hub – the home of Walton Casuals, in Waterside Drive.
