Rick Curtis

The club are saddened to hear of the passing of former player Rick Curtis at the age of 51.

Ricky, familiarly known as ‘Northy’, was a committed and lively player and a very entertaining character round the club.  He played for the Stags in the early 90s as we joined the pyramid system and as well as being in the first team squad, he was top scorer for the second XI for two seasons running, with the team coming third in the Surrey Premier League Reserve Division Championship in 93/94.

Ricky (Pictured above in the bottom row, directly below the goalkeeper) was also a part of the club’s ‘Sunday XI’ which was introduced in 1993.  He went on to be top scorer in their debut season and captained them to a double as they claimed the South Thameside Sunday League Premier Division Championship and the Surrey Sunday Senior Cup.

The club would like to pass our condolences to all of Rick’s family and friends.  We will be holding a minute’s applause prior to kick off against Weston-super-Mare this Saturday.
