Dear Club Secretary,
We have today received the statement below from the FA.
As a result of this, the 2019-20 season in the National League U19 Alliance has now concluded with immediate effect.
The Committee will consider staging the League Cup Final and the remainder of the Academy Cup at the start of next season (whenever that may be).
Statement from the FA…
The FA has been working across the game to bring clarity to the 2019/20 season. The FA has decided that all grassroots football is concluded for the 2019/20 season. This will allow the game to move forward and planning to commence for next season.
The FA respects the autonomy of the leagues to have local decision-making rights in how leagues are concluded. However, haven taken guidance and to support leagues in the decisions they make, we recommend that two options are considered
- Competitions are brought to an immediate end with results expunged (i.e. without promotion or relegation)
- League positions and promotion and relegation are resolved by a points per game calculation.
We would ask that leagues consider expunging results in line with the National League System and Women’s pyramid to support consistency across the game. There should be greater flexibility around cup competitions. With options including simply canceling the competition, trophy sharing (if finalists already determined), or delaying of finals to a possible ‘season opener’.
Thank you for your support throughout the season.
Please stay safe!
