Just 6 months on from the 1st years starting at Walton Casuals Academy, the trials have officially began for year 2 and what an amazing day it was; one that everyone associated at the club can be proud of.
In another positive step for the Academy, we are pleased to announce that The Warehouse Gym have come on board as main academy sponsor.
The Walton Casuals Academy is led by Kelly-Jade Whelan as Academy Manager with Anthony Gale as head of football coaching. So far this season it has been a huge success, 19 male and female footballers have combined to bring both education and football together in one programme.
Walton Casuals Football Club are committed to providing a clear pathway from youth to senior level.
Walton Casuals have a proud record when it comes to youth players, with manager Anthony Gale having a philosophy that ‘If you’re good enough, you’re old enough’. This was evident when he signed academy goalkeeper Elgi Fejzo on first team terms earlier in the season, with Elgi proving his talent when he stood in for the suspended Denzel for two games. We also have 16 year old Reece Robins in the first team squad with five appearances and a goal to his name already.
On Tuesday we wrapped up with training and class for this first term, and what a term it has been! I cannot tell you how proud I am of this group of student athletes and it has been an absolute pleasure to run this programme with them.
Walton Casuals Academy are holding their next set of trials this Friday (30th November) at the Xcel Sports Hub for any potential BTEC and Higher National Diploma students for 2019.
